Spirit Stills and Reboilers?

Hi Åke,
Unfortunately that's not what I observed.
I'm pretty sure the output of the first distillation went directly to the
second distillation (reboiler or alembic still) and from there directly to
the condenser.

Hi Brian
My guess: The amount of energy involved in the first step is, due to larger
volume, larger than what is demanded for the second distillation. Entropy
may be a problem so good heat exchanging must be essential. Speculation:
Additional energy may be brought in by operating the condenser to achieve
slight vacuum.
Would the description at http://lorien.ncl.ac.uk/ming/distil/distileqp.htm
be similar to anything you observed?
Åke
