Just tasted the latest Old Potrero expression from Anchor distillery: Hotaling's Whiskey. This one is quite a bit older than the normal OP expressions: 11 y.o. For those of you who are familiar with the 2 y.o. and 3 y.o. OPs, this 11 y.o. is completely different from what you'd expect if you continue the development from 2 y.o. to 3 y.o. I get clear pine needles and pine resin in the nose. Underneath is soft vanilla. On the palate I get oranges and citrus. None of the woody notes of the younger versions, none of the oiliness. The whole is very fresh and, as I said, utterly different from what I expected.

But very interesting!
