B'day Present for myself

Happy B day. I turned 40 last year, and had a 1965 (birth year) Strathisla...While it was wonderful to have a malt born the same year as I, I now have resided myself to go for quality, not year. That being said, here in the good ol USA, you can get a 30 year old Laphroaig for about 220, depending where. It is one of my favorites; incredible complexity and depth.

Hey all,

I decided since my B'day's a mere 3 weeks away & I'll be the big 40, that 
I'll treat myself.
I was looking for the Legacy series not available but my local place here on 
Long Island has a BruLaddi (my spelling the worst you know who I mean, I 
hope...) 1973 for $260.  Is this a good substitute for the First Legacy and 
is this a good price? Or should I look for a good cask strength Springbank, 
or an older Laphroaig?  Consensus says......... Ulf, Peter W, Peter Maltman 
anyone?
