Hi all,
Usually the companies try to use "their own" cask wich may be just cheaper.
So I suppose in the future Laphroig will use mainly ex-Jim Beam and Makers
Mark Casks for example.



PS:afaik the difference between tennessee and other bourbons is only the
Charcoal mellowing.

Didn't mean to imply that all the empty casks I saw at the Ardbeg yard were
from Jack Daniels. Most indeed weren't. Just that some had a JD-stamped end,
and I don't think JD-matured Ardbeg is kept separate from HH-matured Ardbeg.
In other words, Tennessee whiskey seems to be regarded as 'bourbon' here.

Going off at a slight tangent: I've seen empty casks at Ardbeg which clearly
stated they were from Jack Daniels. So I don't think the industry separates
'bourbon' from 'tennessee whiskey' when it comes to identifying what's been
in the cask prior to single malt.
