In Canada, it is illegal to transport alcohol across provincial borders. So
I break the law when I go to Hull, Quebec to buy beer I drink in Ottawa,
Ontario, though those two cities are only separated by a river.

Wineries in British Columbia would gladly ship me a case of wine, even
though everyone involved knows it is illegal to do so.

The best story I have on this subject is many years ago, I was curious about
Japanese whisky. So I sent letters to several distilleries in Japan. I was
just asking for information. I was ignored by all but Suntory. They sent
me three bottles. The customs declaration was fully filled out in English,
except the space for content description that was written in Japanese.
Maybe it said "art work," I don't know.

It was great fun to walk home from the post office with this big box knowing
the impossible had just happened.
