Kia ora Peter,
One of my colleagues travels to Australia every three weeks, part of
his journeying involves purchasing me a bottle at Sydney Airport.
Last week I asked him to acquire a Laphroaig 10YO Cask Strength,
however, he turned up with a nice surprise -- it was the Quarter Cask!
Without hesitation I decided to perform a comparative tasting. I was
surprised with this expression, considering that it's NAS bottling
(apparently it's 5YO plus 7mths QC finishing).
Compared to the Laphroaig 10YO CS, it's much creamier, has stronger
wood 'tones' and the sharp attack is much reduced.
I think the best bet is for you to also acquire said bottle and let
us know what you think!
Best Regards,
