That is good news indeed. And the kind of research we really need.

A question to the list: looking around, it seems indeed that whisky is carb free, but it still has a calorific content. Assuming the oils and proteins, while important, are essentially trace, what gives whisky its calories? Presumably it is the alcohol itself, but how is alcohol classified and what is the effect of those calories - especially with regard to weight/diabetes, etc.?
