Good on yer Uncle Ralph
H*******h rocket attacks most be one of the best excuses yet for getting
plastered on good malt whisky. Binyamina must surely be out of range one
hopes?
Not being an Adelphi shillaber I can't comment on their whiskies. So here's
one from my current source of mind-bending bottlings - S*******y. The
distillery is S* ********e or L********w if you prefer. I first tasted this
distillery before I started recording my tasting notes in a precise format,
and it was SMWS bottling 47.6. I live in Sulphur City, but this took one me
by surprise with its overload of element 16. It was a rarity so I
accommodated.
Recently I just sampled a S*******y 30 y L********w. It comes in one of
those Decanter-type bottles which look so incredibly collectable - but I'm
buggered if I can ever find a use for.
Nose: Light and malty, hay. grassy-herby (summer savoury), faint ginger
biscuits
Palate: Sweet start but rapidly dry and pungent. Syrupy feel to mouth. No
vanilla despite age and cask. There is a distinct tang I can't put a name to.
Finish: Medium-long, dry and oaky.
Notes: Not a bad dram but showing its age with woodiness.
Well, it's about what you'd expect from the factory belt, but after 30
years in a hoggie? No wonder they turned the distillery into a block of
flats. Its next door neighbour (give or take a few miles along the main
road) was a different proposition, but they are both just ghosts now.
