Hello Ralph, Luc, all,

Thought it’d be interesting to post my notes for the Bladnoch Forum Port Ellen. For starters,
I thought I was sensitive when it comes to rubber and sulphur notes, but when reading Luc’s
comments, I realise I’m not that “fussy”. (E.g. I liked the great sherry OB Talisker 20,
although it was quite rubbery.)

I tasted the Bladnoch Forum Port Ellen as number six in a tasting, so I was slightly
anaesthetized.

Colour: dark golden (well, it was quite dark at the session)

Nose: warm butter, a nice peatiness, malt and sawdust.

Nose @ 46 % abv: not quite as good, it gets weaker and some rubber notes emerge.

Palate @ 46 % abv: big and well balanced, sweet malt and cream.

  Aftertaste: long and smooth.

  Score: 91 points, no less.

Comment: the butter note was unusual, but not an off-note in my book.

Regarding the Bladnoch Forum, that’s the place to hang these days, if you like to discuss all
things whisky. And to be frank, MALTS-L are pretty much dead. So all of you great characters,
who have contributed to this list over the years – Lex, St. Peter, Ralph, Davin and many more
– I think you should leave the lurkers behind, and “move” to the Bladnoch Forum.

  Cheers,
JESPER

  PS Congratulations Ulf!
