Frank,
First a HUGE salute to you for maintaining the list as long as you have.
This has been a tremendous boon to the malt e-community and probably the
base for a lot of what's happening in e-maltland now.
My primary interest, if we must lose or migrate Malts-L is to maintain the
archives. There is so much priceless and unique information there. If we
move it we have to find a way to keep the archives intact.
I think the discussion part has been quite diluted of late by other sites
that have started their own discussion groups. Too bad, because I think the
malt community lost a lot along the way. I have to say at maltmaniacs we
have discussed from time to time, starting a discussion group, but rejected
the idea simply because we did not want to steal from Malts-L.
I also find it unfortunate that a University wants to dispose of knowledge,
but that's bureaucracy for you.
In any case, if there are people out there who can take over hosting let's
make sure thay can maintain the archive as well.
Again Frank, thanks for all you've done for the malt community by giving us
this list.
