Dear Lex, dear all,
I do support your opinion, additionally I would prefer this good old "list"
format from the early times of the internet to a newsgroup/board. Although a
board would be much easier to handle. But unfortunately I do not have an
idea how we solve the thing technically.

Hi all

First of all, thanks to Frank for all his efforts hosting the list over the
years.

I think there are two quite separate issues. Of course I do agree with Davin
and others that he archives are a very valuable resource and ought to be
preserved in some way or another.

Then the active list itself. Clearly, there has been very minimal activity
the last year or so. I guess all good things have a limited life span, but I
do feel sad about a vibrant, knowledgeable and often opinionated (and I mean
that in a positive way) whisky community slip into oblivion. So I think we
need to consider whether there is enough interest remaining to set up
Malts-L as an active list somewhere else. If no more than a handful of
people feel that way, setting up a new Malts-L somewhere else, only to see
it remain silent, is probably a waste of time. A lot of us are probably
active on other whisky fora scattered across the internet, but do we want
Malts-L to remain as a separate entity?

Personally, my answer to this is a clear 'yes', given how special and unique
(to me) Malts-L has always been compared to virtually all other whisky
e-fora I've been active in. So .... other who feel the same as I do and want
to try and breathe new life into Malts-L?

Bit of news (at least it was news to me): Duncan Taylor has plans to build
its own distillery.

Slainte
Lex
