Hello All.
What motivated my question (apart from general curiosity) is that this year I have been fortunate enough to get my hands on a couple of bottlings that to me, as a rank amateur, are simply superb.
They all come from a bottler that is not going to be named, because its irrelevant. The point is, here are these wonderful whiskies, but apparently because they are single cask editions, the knowledge and reputation is not going to get out there. So the price won't go up. Good for me, when I've tasted and want to get another and it is still in stock. But just a wee bitty puzzling.
In a sense it motivates me to look among the single cask suppliers, because there's a better than even chance that what I fancy will still be reasonably priced.
It does mean, however, that the skill of deconstructing florid tasting notes has to be well-developed.
