[MM-MALTS-L] Re: What drives price?

When Signatory brought out their first bottling after purchasing Edradour, I bought 1 bottle. It was so soapy, I thought they hadn't cleaned the lines, or something. Anyway, I had it sent back, right into the offices in Edinburgh. In exchange, 2 bottles of the next batch were sent to me.

I opened up one and had a tasting session. Its one of the few times I saw someone choke, splutter and spit out a single cask. Just like getting bad shampoo in your mouth. Appalling. I kept a reference sample and gave away the almost full bottle to someone I don't really like. He was well pleased.

The second bottle, numbered "No. 1 of ...." remains unopened, abandoned, at the very back of the whisky cabinet.

Never bought an Edradour since, and I don't intend to unless I can sample the cask first.
