I attend the launch party of the new Macallan 12yo Gran Reserva today. Great
stuff, I wonder if they send this one in the MM award. (But I noticed from
Serge's photo that there is a purple one among the empty bottles.) It is
said to be non-chill-filtered and no caramel. And of course coming from
first fill sherry butt. RSP at NTD1,600, (USD$50.-)

The new Gran Reserva is only reserved for Taiwan and Japan at the first
year, not sure if they'll launch this product in other countries next year.

Here is my tasting note:

Macallan 12yo Gran Reserva (45.6%,OB, 2007)
Color: Black amber. Very oil.
Nose: Toffee, black chocolate orange. Light smokiness. Roast malt, honey,
dilute get more oak and woodiness, also more citrus.
Palate: Medium heavy body, rounded yet powerful, finished long. Lot's
orange, malty note. A little bit tannin feel attach the mouth.
Comment: 92 points. Great Stuff, reminds you the good days of Macallan.
