[MM-MALTS-L] Michael Jackson memorial & festschrift

Got the below from Ian Buxton, with the request to spread it around the
whisky community as far and wide as possible, so apologies if you
already got it via another route. All comments/ideas/questions etc to
Ian (ian at edinburghconsultancy.com) and feel free to pass it on further.

 

 

 

Thinking beyond the funeral, I believe the world of whisky (and indeed,
beer) should come together to acknowledge and honour Michael's work.  We
all say we owe Michael a debt, stand on his shoulders, work in his
shadow etc..so let us DO SOMETHING.

 

There should be a Memorial Service at a suitable date.  In London?  In
Yorkshire?  In his beloved Speyside perhaps?

 

How do we organise this?  Do we need a committee?  Has anyone any
knowledge of this?  If you support this idea, then let me know - and
pass it on to your friends and contacts.

 

And perhaps, at a suitable distance, a Festschrift.  (Look it up here if
you're not sure!  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festschrift
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festschrift> )  Such a Memorial Volume
could incorporate a selection of his best work with appropriate
tributes.
