[MM-MALTS-L] Chance to drink fine malts in good company in a castle...

Hi All,

This is NOT a posting of a sordid commercial nature. Honest, guv.

It's 11 years since the Friends of the Classic Malts was launched (11 YEARS!
Where did they go?). To celebrate the first decade, there's a slap-up dinner
at Drummuir Castle. It's to thank the key people involved and a few Friends
have won places. But someone decided at the last minute to auction four
places on E-bay in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (the
volunteer rescue service which looks after the Classic Malts Cruise etc).

As well as Charlie MacLean (whose name is misspelt in the auction details -
don't worry it is the right one) and Dave Broom, Jim Beveridge and Douglas
Murray (mines of information on maturation and much else) and a vatting of
retired distillery managers will be there. At least one legend has been
invited - but I don't yet know if he can make it, so can't name him. And
there'll be a chance to bend Nick Morgan's ear, I'm sure! (But I didn't say
that.)

There's a tasting - which will more than likely deserve its 'special'
description - over at Cragganmore during the afternoon, then a dinner and a
night of really good food, excellent drink, above average conversation (!)
and much more at the Castle. It will be a lot of fun. And I just thought you
guys would get a hell of a lot more out of it than any uninitiated E-bayer.
(I'm not being paid for writing this!)

There are two separate auctions rather hidden away on E-bay. Last time I
looked, the bids were the reserve £400 for each pair of tickets... and the
auctions close in less than 24 hours. All you have to do is get yourself and
your partner to Aberdeen or Inverness. Diageo will do the rest.

Hopefully these are the links:

It would be good to meet up with any of you.
