 Hiho,
Why should they close?
Maybe for refurbishments, as Horst said. Family problems? Well then the
whole thing could be sold...and I am pretty sure in times when Glenglassaugh
will be reopend, a possible buyer will be found easily ( hahah all swedish
malt lovers together will establish a plc and buy it ).

But not for any other reason, in those days with the highest expansion in
the Whiskyindustry in SCO since more then 100 years...it is rediculous to
assume a well known distillery will close. Even if there is a problem they
could still sell all newmake to blenders.
So imho, if you like Springbank I do not think that there is no reason to be
worried.

Bernhard

Hello Martin!

Can't believe in this. Springbank is on a good expansion course (Glengyle)
and sales develop well. Time is very friedly to Scotch Single Malt WHisky
today.

What often happens is malinformation thru bad retailers. Whenever those miss
to secure their supply of a particular brand, something weird has happened.
Like Lagavulin burnt down (tale here in Germany a few years ago) or
something similar.

But this Springbank tale is something else. It describes something happening
in the midterm future.

Why should a distillery shut down in the future? Perhaps they have to
replace a worn still? This would make sense. But to reduce this circumstance
to a closure forever is bad habbit.

Perhaps you should buy all Spingbank bottles available in your country? Is
this a rumor sent out by some distributor to increase short term sales?

And in the end it might be true. But this has the least probability in my
view.

Regards,
Horst
