[MM-MALTS-L] New Irish Distillery

Hi John
Didn't mean to sound too sceptical, and I AM enthusiastic about a new Irish distillery, but I've seen so many plans (in both Scotland and Ireland) falter at some stage that I want to be sure it's really in the process of being built before dressing up all in green (;o).
As I gather, they don't have planning permission yet and that's most certainly not a formality. For instance, the Shetland distillery thought they had a site and put in a request for planning permission, and then it all went pear-shaped .... I've not heard anything from them for quite a while, so my guess is that it's pretty dead in the water (alas ...).
Cheers, Lex

Hi Lex,
Yes, that's certainly true, but I think this one is a little further down the road than any of the others progressed. It also has the backing of a successful business - the Porterhouse, a microbrewery in Dublin and a few other places.
Here's a little more about it - http://www.kerryman.ie/news/euro8m-distillery-planned-for-dingle-1499498.html

Definitely interesting news, John, and good if it happens, but I've seen quite a handful of recent plans for new Irish distilleries come and go, so see first, celebrate second ...

I don't know if anyone here is interested in Irish whiskey, but there is a new distillery being built (or about to be built) in Dingle, Co. Kerry. It will make pure pot still Irish whiskey. Sir John McDougall is helping out to begin with, I believe.
