[MM-MALTS-L] Helloooo There!

Hi Ralph

I don't necessarily think the Glenlivet 12 is a world beater, but it is a
worthy candidate for an everyday tipple and cheaper in Australia than a lot
of equivalent quality blends.

I might buy a fight but I reckon it's better than Macallan Fine Oak 12,
Glenfiddich 12, Tamdhu NAS, Glen Moray NAS and Glenrothes Select Reserve.

I agree about Glenfarclas 12 - I think that is seriously classy and I'd rank
it with Balvenie Double Wood 12 and Strathisla 12. The latter is a really
solid dram; you might think it bland, but it's rock solid over time and
never disintegrates in the glass. Some of the big sellers are good for 10
minutes once poured but tend to get thin and bitter if left much longer.

Scapa 14 doesn't do much for me, I'm afraid. I don't actively dislike it
but it doesn't push any buttons either.

Hi Craig.
I like the idea of a "House Malt", but just don't get through enough to make
such a thing a feature. I do have "standards" that I like to have around.
Old reliables. These are Scapa 14 and Glenfarclas 12. Both, you will note,
with an obvious, in your face, sherry component. But they have maintained
their "profile" (horrible word!) over a long time, so I know what I'm
getting.
It its interesting what you say about Glenlivet 12. I abandoned it a long
time ago as tending towards the bland. Maybe its time now to give it another
go. In fact - I shall!
