AW: [MM-MALTS-L] Save Johnnie Walker Whisky/advert

Hello!

It was quite clear that I will receive harsh critics about my thoughts. And
you are right, one has to overstate things to make them clear.

Volkswagen! Good point. They lost a lot of sales like JW may have (I do not
know the exact figures). And there are a lot of countries, which force VW to
built assembly plants outside Germany. We even have to reimport VWs built
e.g. in the US or Mexico into Germany. What is Diageo planning else? We have
4m workless here in Germany and reimport VWs into our country? We reached
this status already. What are you planning in the UK? Employing firemen on
electrical locomotives?

I do not think that I am too cynical. The SWA had complained several times
about worse and worse legislation. And the people have not opposed
legislation but reelected the non-whisky folks into the parliaments. The
same is true in Germany. I am earning a living out of whisky and we also
see, that all odds stand against our branch. My job will be gone in 10 to 15
years. What shall we as a very small company do? Can we protest against a
big company? Are we able to protest against legislation? No, we can only
react. My family and I will no longer invest bigger sums in any alcohol
related business located in Europe. The spirits/whisky-workforce will reduce
more and more in the future and not only the individual but also the
administration has to look for replacement jobs.

That's it. It is not cynismn but reality. Bankers are helped, but whisky
producers not.

Regards,
Horst

Hi Iain

Horst's not so little rant reveals that he thinks that corporations are our
new Gods and Diageo executives are the high priests.

I comfort myself with the thought that Diageo should be likened to the
Marketing Division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation, for those who like
their Douglas Adams.

I wish the very best to the good citizens of Kilmarnock in their campaign.

Geez, that's quite a rant Horst.

re: "Finally people stopped drinking". Have people stopped drinking Scotch
in greater numbers than those that have stopped drinking drinking vodka, gin

etc during this recession?

And I'll remember your thoughts on the iniquities of bottling in Scotland
next time I see a Volkswagen or another make of imported car that has been
designed and built abroad.

Why should we work hard abroad and pay for Volkswagen's assembly costs in
Germany which could increase our own nation balance sheet? Is this fair??
;)
