Hello Ralph,

very interesting to read. There is not only a war on talents or on jobs - there is one on taxes also.

I fully understand the tactics of these huge companies. Even when I am not lucky with it. But on the other hand we have to recognize, that the value of a brand is no longer in the hands of the manufacturing or the blending people. It is rather in the hands of the marketing department and corporate head office.

Distilleries are rewarded with 1 GBP for each litre of whisky in cask strength produced. For a typical blend it will be far less.

What offends me more is the money sucking behaviour of the white collar staff inside these companies. The shareholder is not rewarded for his money, he leds to the operation. Instead travel expenses as well as management salaries rocket into heaven. And the more taxes you save, the more can you pay for your management staff and the consultant clique with which you may have beautiful times off site.
