No Lagavulin? Or is it too expensive in Oz?

Hi everyone,

Still lurking, still devouring all things whisky.

I've decided to write an article for our Society's newsletter, Feints & Foreshots on the 10 best value affordable whiskies, from a Recession Buster perspective.

My selection critieria are:

· Must be an OB,
· Must be commonly available in Australia, as in on the shelves in a half way decent liquorist or one of the big chains
· Must have a regular shelf price below A$80, (US$60, UKP38, Euro45)
· Must score better than 75/100 in the Malt Maniacs Matrix.

My candidates so far would be Aberlour 10, Ardbeg 10, Ardmore NAS Traditional Cask, Balvenie 12, Bowmore 12, Bruichladdich 10, Dalmore 12, Glenfarclas 10, Glenfiddich 15 Solera Reserve, Glenlivet 12, Glenmorangie 10, Highland Park 12, Laphroaig 10, Speyburn 10, Strathisla 12, Talisker 10.

I'd very much welcome input and suggestion from listers as they may have seen one or two that I've missed.

Cheers

I have to admit I do not post, or have not in a long time, but I always read (and keep most) what is posted. I wish there were more postings so that even lurkers like I could read them - I find that I almost always learn something.

 Good Morning Konstantin,

If it is no effort, keep it alive.

1. It is nice nostalgia.

2. It is the father (or and mother) of all this modern things.

3. It will regain popularitiy as a niche, not to be used by every moron that

can klick with a mouse.
