Gents,
Our Dutch whisky friend Michiel Wigman, the largest Springbank collector in the world, suffered a serious loss when someone broke in and took more than 180 rare bottles. Scroll down for his English information and the lost list.
Please pay attention to this and if you notify unusual bottlings coming up for sale, tell Michiel. He is devastated by it and deserves every help he can get.
It is my impression that it was an inside job and the people who did it certainly knew what to take with them.

Dit duo is gespecialiseerd in "old times"whisky, dit wil zeggen de whiskies die volgens de oude productiemethoden zijn gemaakt.
Elke liefhebber van de oude malts kent Michiel, elke verzamelaar kent Michiel, elke handelaar in oude malts kent Michiel, en omgekeerd.
Zoek je een bijzondere botteling uit de jaren 50,60 of 70, zij weten hem te vinden.

Diefstal in de whiskywereld...

De bekende whiskyliefhebber en Springbankverzamelaar Michiel Wigman meldde zaterdag 10 oktober de diefstal van 183 flessen uit zijn persoonlijke verzameling. Het betreft enkele zeer zeldzame flessen. Wigman roept op een oogje in het zeil te houden, als deze flessen ineens op de markt komen, kan de dader wellicht gevonden worden.
De flessen werden gestolen uit een door Wigman gehuurde opslag. Afgezien van de financiële impact en de rompslomp van een gang naar het politiebureau en de verzekeringsmaatschappij, komt de klap ook emotioneel behoorlijk aan. "Ik zat in een emotionele achtbaan de laatste dagen, nu gaat het weer goed met me."
Sommige flessen laten zich makkelijker vervangen dan anderen. Het verlies van vier Springbank Local Barley flessen is desastreus te noemen. "Twee van deze waren alleen in Taiwan uitgegeven, ik heb er jaren naar gezocht." Wie ineens een verdachte hoeveelheid (zeldzame) Springbanks of andere flessen van de lijst op internet veilingsites aantreft, wordt opgeroepen te reageren. Stuur een mail aanstefan at commitmenttomalt.nl<mailto:stefan at commitmenttomalt.nl> en ik zal contact opnemen met de heer Wigman. Hopelijk worden de whisky's snel gevonden en de daders goed gestraft voor deze vreselijke daad.

Dear Friends,
Unfortunately I have to tell you that a part of my collection has been stolen. 183 bottles from my box in the storage house were I stored most off the total collection were gone when I visited this place last weekend.
I spent a lot of time at the police office to report everything last Sunday and had some serious discussions with my insurence compagny this week. Emotional I went through a mental rollar coaster for a few days, but am fine again at the moment. Because there are no signs of violence visable towards the box a rent, the insurance compagny for the moment refused to cover the financial damage.
There are some extreme rare bottles gone that will be very hard to find ever again, and of course some bottles that are easy to replace (when I want to, which I very much doubt at the moment).
Underneath the most valuable or rare bottle that are gone
The most painfull (emotionally) for me is the lost of the 4 local barley bottles as I was under the impression that I had the complete collection. Two of them (cask 509 and 496) were only released in Taiwan. It took quite some years to find them.
Please be so kind to inform me when you face one of the bottles somewere. Besides I would be very greatfull if you would be able to help me to replace the local barley bottles.
