Hi,

i´ve tried Writers Tears in a tasting last week, nice whisky. The only
think in my view: could be better with 46% alc.vol.
to flimsy but a perfect summer dram, so hope for sunny days in november
to try it again.

Yes, both Writer's Tears and The Irishman are well worth their price. Good and easy drinking whiskys.
The Irishman has a blend, a malt and also a limited edition with Cask Strength. The Writer's Tears is quite new at least in Germany. I tried it at the festival in Aschaffenburg two weeks ago.

They're both very good, but not worth the money, in my opinion. There's
even rumours that they will be rebottled and sold off cheaper. The 12 yr
old one is a cask strength and it's superb. But ¤850 for a 12 yr old
cask strength whiskey?
The other is a 10 yr old bottled at 40%abv. Sure Redbreast 12 is two
years older and sells for over ¤200 less.

Indeed - I have a couple of bottles of the 12 at home - I even have half
a bottle of the 15 left, which I got at retail for ¤65 (a bargain, given
the last bottles were selling for around ¤120).
I also just recently learned about two other Irish bottlings from
Middleton - Writers Tears and the Irishman. They both sound interesting
& not too dear. I figure they're worth a taste, if nothing else. Anyone
come across them?
Cheers,
Dave.
